Hi everyone, I'm Henry. I'm a Product Manager at Preamble which focuses on chronic disease prevention and performance. I'm exploring Medplum as a longer term solution for Custom EHR and care management after experiencing different (fully anticipated) limitations of our off the shelf EHR. I've just been slowly exploring the docs, case studies and the admin panel, and starting to understand the different FHIR resources. Excited to continue learning and slowly start building.

hello all
I’m the CTO at an early-stage stealth startup in the medical records space.
After working in many industries, I’ve finally landed in the healthcare sector. I've started learning about things like HIPAA, TEFCA, and FHIR. Having lived in the UK and worked for US companies my entire career, I am familiar with some of the challenges in this space. Discovering FHIR and its goals was a significant watershed moment for me.
I’m heavily entrenched in Salesforce and AWS, and I love building APIs and integrations. Like the rest of the world, I am exploring creative ways to leverage AI. One example is bringing old medical records, scanned PDFs, etc., into the FHIR world.

Hi Everyone, Good to be in the channel. Finally it is possible to build healthcare apps and workflows atop a good clinical data standards. I lead efforts in shaping an open source repo called https://github.com/earthians/marley - which is a tightly integrated HIS and ERP system for healthcare ops. Looking to build clinical and health record intensive flows using Medplum and Marley for all the backend ops workflows - so combined we have a great suite for digital health requirements.

Hi all - I'm Gene Dolgin. CEO of Lumin Health ( https://www.lumin.health/). We're a tech-friendly brick and mortar mental health provider, focused specifically on ketamine and esketamine treatment. We're one of the largest and fastest growing providers in our space. Because of the meds we work with, and the type of treatments we offer, our care ends up looking more episodic (many weekly treatments). We're currently using AdvancedMD as a PM and EHR, and are really hitting snags all over the place.
I'm looking at alternative solutions, including building from the ground up. We really believe in a patient-centric approach to care, and want all of our teams (from patient concierge/intake to clinicians to referring providers) to be able to see and follow a patient through their time with us. We've cobbled together a number of solutions including more CRM-like systems (for initial patient contact and onboarding) to AdvancedMD to lots of things in between. I'd love to chat with folks who have had a good experience with Medplum - I really do believe we're in a unique position to rethink the patient and provider experience and dramatically improve it.
Reach out to me here (though I'm an infrequent Discord user) or better at gene@lumin.health

We currently use Athena Health as our EHR today, and we are pretty unhappy with the UI and the workflows. We're working on building out our own frontend specifically for our Care Navigators. Curious if you have any integrations with Athena, and if so, what those look like. I believe we can't really get away from Athena entirely, due to needing to be on a certified EHR.

Hey everyone 👋
I’m Anthony, founder of Healthside. I’ve been building in the digital health space for a few years now, and I’m super passionate about using tech to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and human.
We’re building a vertically integrated platform to support and scale several of our DTC digital health projects, and we’re using Medplum as the foundation.
Our goal is to centralize administrative and management operations across all types of care so we can make the most of shared resources, keep overhead low, and give providers more room to focus on delivering high-quality care. With a strong infrastructure in place, we’ll be able to launch, test, and scale new offerings more efficiently as new opportunities come up.
Right now, we’re focused on launching Caresful—a project aimed at improving access to HIV preventative care and treatment through telehealth and partnerships with community-based organizations. The goal is to make it easy for patients to access free or low-cost treatment online in a way that’s seamless and scalable.
We’re always looking to grow the team and partner on new opportunities. If you’re a developer—especially if you’ve worked with Medplum or are just excited about this space—feel free to DM me. Would love to connect or just chat!
Looking forward to getting to know more of you!

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm a student trying to make healthcare billing more patient-centric to avoid insurance denials, because insurance denials are an awful experience. I'm a beginner in this space, but due to amazing communities like these, I feel like I can make my dream happen. I was initially led to this Discord by Flexpa's Patient Access API OAuth2.0 Integration Demo. I could use advice because I plan on showcasing in 1.5 months and want to know how I can best approach this. One of the key features I'm hoping to create is a patient-facing denial detection engine using a combination of business rules, maybe ML, and agentic AI to help patients avoid denials proactively by literally asking their EOBs if something is covered, before signing any invoices.

Hello, I am a cardiologist based in Charlotte, NC. I am surprised at the lack of platforms that help manage cardiovascular risk factors beyond weight (lipids, blood pressure, sleep apnea etc.) and most patients don't actually get quality preventive care. After waiting for a few years for someone else to build it, I am going to try building the lipid management portion myself. I have an AI medical assistant + scribe prototype ( https://assistant.cliniwiz.com) and patient-facing portal prototype ready ( https://lipiwiz.com). Over the next few weeks, my goal is to integrate MedPlum and see if I can get things to flow well.

Hi Everyone! My name is Gabriel Chavez, Founder of Virtualize Health - educating the next generation of EHR analysts. I'm insterested in using MedPlum to educate people on the backend of EHRs and compare it to how Epic currently works. I've been an Epic analyst for about 3 years and currently work as a programmer in the Precision Medicine division at my healthcare org.
I'm a super nerd for EHRs, enjoy weight-lifting and love spending time with the wife. She's currently studying for her MCAT to become an Oncologist, so healthcare runs deep for us. Looking forward to sharpening my coding skills to start customizing MedPlum and make it ours.
I’d like to give kudos to the founder of MedPlum — I believe it has the potential to introduce healthy competition to Epic. I’m genuinely excited about the mission of this open-source project and would love to contribute, especially in ways that benefit patients across the board. AI integration is an area I’m particularly passionate about and eager to support within the MedPlum ecosystem.

I'm Michael Ruhnke (PhD robotics/AI, co-founded dotscene, founding engineer at Marble), now leading AI at Blue—a well-funded startup building data infrastructure for personalized longevity.
We’re building a HIPAA-grade health data platform that turns messy real-world inputs (EHR/FHIR, wearables, PDFs/semistructured data) into clean domain objects + durable APIs used by web/mobile and AI subsystems. We’re hiring a Founding Backend/Infra Engineer to own our core data platform end-to-end: - Ingestion + processing pipelines (resource mapping, terminology/units, schema evolution, backfills, idempotency) - Data model design (clean domain objects, evolvable contracts) - APIs consumed by web/mobile + AI subsystems - Infra + security posture (Terraform/IaC, CI/CD, observability, HIPAA-aligned controls) Stack today: Python/FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Terraform (open to deliberate changes with justification).
Huge plus: shipped real FHIR/EHR integrations in production (interoperability patterns, coding, identity/matching). Must-haves: system-level ownership, engineering depth + breadth, US time zone overlap. Comp: $150–200k salary + meaningful equity (flex for exceptional fits).
More details: https://joinblueai.com/join-us Apply via email to roles@joinblueai.com (include resume, LinkedIn/GitHub + 1–2 systems you’ve owned end-to-end and how they overlap with what we’re building).

Hi folks, I'm Jeffry and a healthcare professional. I've always been into ICT as well and have been developing for one of the greater EHR-systems. I'm really into open source and I do love the effort you all put in MedPlum. It's such a relief in many ways. Despite my ICT-interest I'm not a real coder, more a great configurer. But with the help of AI I started working on a provider-app implementation for Dutch Healthcare ( https://github.com/JeffryL/ggz-medplum-react-nlcore).
I feel a bit restrained in contributing right away in MedPlum. But I did make/create stuff that might be relevant for the project/repo itself. I made some bots, (LMS calculations), updatet the BMI calculation so that it doesn't look too much back in history etc. And I managed to connect with my project to the Dutch Ontoserver (Nationale Terminologieserver) and develop further on that base. Growth charts based on TNO are implemented in my provider-app etc.
If someone would like to connect and help me out what to push to the main project. Please contact me!

Hey everyone 👋
I'm an AI engineer and full-stack developer who enjoys building things that are technically challenging and genuinely useful.
Over the years I've worked across AI, backend systems, full-stack applications, Unreal Engine, game development, and robotics. Most of my recent work has focused on AI systems, automation, agent-based architectures, and building products that can move from idea to production.
I enjoy working on projects where multiple disciplines come together, whether that's combining AI with robotics, creating intelligent tools and workflows, or developing interactive experiences with game technologies.
My core stack includes Python, AI/ML, LLMs, automation, backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, modern web technologies, Unreal Engine, and robotics development.
I'm always interested in ambitious projects, strong teams, and people who care about building high-quality products. If you're working on something technically challenging and want to collaborate, feel free to reach out.
Currently open to full-time opportunities, consulting, and interesting projects.

Hey all — I'm Pranav (Lead Data Scientist @ HCSC). I spent 4+ years doing clinical NLP at a payer: entity extraction from medical records for risk adjustment, claims review (pre- and post-pay), UM, care management, etc. Now I'm researching how teams in this ecosystem handle the same problems from the builder side and exploring whether there's a real problem in clinical data extraction / AI evals for healthcare. Talking to people building in this space to figure out if it's worth pursuing.
Two things I'm digging into: 1. How you get clinical data out of unstructured documents (faxes, referral packets, external records) :built, bought, or suffering? 2. How you evaluate LLM features on clinical content : pre-ship testing, regression catching, and what "good enough to ship" evidence looks like.
If you've built either (or are mid-struggle), I'd love 20 minutes. In return I'll share an anonymized synthesis of everything I learn across these conversations with this community. Should be a useful benchmark of how different teams are solving it. DM me or drop a comment. 🙏

Hi, I'm Sam. I'm from the United States. I own some businesses and I attend college full time, both are completely unrelated to EHR systems. I'm considering experimenting with EHR system development and deployment. I have some adjacent EHR experience, by developing an ecommerce plugin that verifies if someone is current or former US military to issue discounts. My e-commerce add-on connects to the US Department of Veterans Affairs Lighthouse API, which is an EHR system, to accomplish this.

Hello. Nice to meet you.
Currently, as a team leader and freelance developer, I’m primarily responsible for AI, web and app development. I’d like to expand our team’s business, but to be honest, there are some aspects that are difficult for me to handle on my own. In particular, since I’m still unfamiliar with local culture, detailed communication, and expanding our customer base, I’d like to collaborate with someone who can provide support in areas other than development. As a developer, I’m capable of handling website creation, business system development, app development, and the modification and improvement of existing systems. However, I believe we can achieve better results by working on projects and advancing development alongside a trusted partner. While knowledge of the IT field is desirable, specialized expertise in a specific area is not required. Even if you are not familiar with the IT field, as long as you have the motivation to “create something that generates revenue together” or “work together to expand project opportunities,” I believe there is a high likelihood we can collaborate effectively. We are not tied to any specific model regarding the form our collaboration might take. We would like to discuss and decide on revenue sharing and the division of roles on a project-by-project basis, in a way that works for both parties. Of course, we do not intend to start a large-scale project right away. First, we would like to share ideas and discuss potential contributions, exploring the possibility of collaboration through casual conversations. I apologize for contacting you out of the blue, but if you have even the slightest interest, I would very much like to speak with you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Holly
Is anyone here building a startup around clinical trials?
I was recently selected for Build with Claude: Science, where I built an AI assistant for glioma clinical trials. It got me interested in turning this into a startup, and I’d love to connect with founders or anyone working in this space.
Feel free to DM me!

Hi everyone 👋 I'm Jesus, a critical care physician in Medellín, Colombia. I'm building OMAXI, an LLM pipeline that structures Spanish-language ICU documentation — still in development, with a focus on validation and never producing confident fabrications. Just ran my first FHIR mapping experiment against Medplum and wrote up what broke and why. Here to learn — especially interested in Spanish-language and LATAM deployments.
